Five & Dime
About This Spot
Stepping into Five & Dime upstairs on Davis Street, you’re welcomed into a space that balances a relaxed neighborhood rhythm with a subtle buzz of anticipation. This is a place where time feels unhurried, inviting you to linger on the rooftop patio, warmed by gentle heaters, sharing conversation over thoughtfully crafted drinks and generous plates. The atmosphere is quietly convivial, a blend of easy smiles and low hums of chatter that feel just right for catching up with friends or settling into an evening of discovery.
The menu reflects this thoughtful balance of approachable comfort and thoughtful flavor layering. There’s something quietly satisfying about gathering around a shared plate of loaded nachos, the cheese melting just so, or savoring the ease of a freshly dressed salad that’s as crisp and vibrant as the night air. For those drawn towards something lighter or more adventurous, the delicate flavors of the tuna poke bowl offer a bright, fresh counterpoint, while the hearty, double-stacked burger grounds the experience in familiar, satisfying fare.
What lingers beyond the food is the feeling of a place that encourages connection—whether it’s swapping stories with your neighbors over a warm butter cake or raising a glass to the city views framed by the rooftop’s open sky. The cocktail menu brings its own invitation to pause, with drinks like a well-made old fashioned or a citrus-forward spritz that complement the unhurried pace and convivial spirit.
In every corner—from the spacious rooftop to the warm vibe downstairs—Five & Dime invites you to savor moments that feel locally rooted yet unexpectedly special. It’s a spot where the quality of food and drinks serves as a backdrop to genuine hospitality and a quietly memorable experience in Evanston’s eclectic fabric.

In town from Nashville. Great vibe on the rooftop with exceptional service. Highly recommend the nachos for the table, a warm butter cake to split with your neighbor, and any salad if you’re still hungry! Also, the maple old fashioned is a recipe I hope to recreate back home!

Rooftop, great ambience. Good quality of food. Around $50/person (no alcohol)...includes desert. Big BBQ ribs, nice salad and amazing butter cake. The ambience make it spectacular place to re visit. Thank you.

Pretty cool spot. Rooftop is spacious. Servers are welcoming and friendly. The menu has a lot of options. You can order food from Five and Dime, Taco Diablo, or Lulu's. I ordered the Tuna Poke Bowl. It was huge! Lots of food and it was good. The fish was fresh. Everything was well seasoned. It comes with a large piece of tempura shrimp, which honestly wasn't too great. Tasted like more breading than shrimp. The rest of the bowl was great though. The drinks were decent. The New Friendship was strong and well made. The Maple Old Fashioned was good, but sugary. The whole place was very clean. Restrooms were clean. Casual and chill vibe. Great spot to hang out and grab a drink and appetizers. Paid street parking available nearby. I would recommend this spot.

They offer a decent food menu, a great drink menu and a fantastic location/view. The prices are slightly high, but the portion sizes are big & plentiful. We had the Lulu's Ginger Chicken Salad, BBQ ribs, Nachos and Double Cheeseburger. The drink pictured is called "Yes, Please", and that's exactly what it makes you say after one sip!

A friend and I stopped in for a drink. We were seated promptly, and had great service. The ambiance was great - wonderful rooftop patio with some propane heaters to get rid of the chill. Drinks are a bit pricey, around $15, but you’re paying for the atmosphere. The old fashioned was great. Great place to stop in for a drink, will be back.

My parents were in from out of town and wanted to go somewhere that pleased all. This place was awesome. Started at the rooftop of five and dime for drinks and a view while we waited for our table downstairs. We were seated on the Blue Horse Tavern side and we loved the ambiance! The menu is the same through out all restaurants so it was nice to have variety. Our server Derrick was super nice and when I asked for recommendations was happy to let us know his favorites. Coming back for sure when the weather turns! 10 out of 10.

I am so glad I found this rooftop restaurant! It’s such a cute place to grab drinks at and snack on some appetizers, and its so much closer than downtown Chicago!! The food and drinks we ordered were delicious. We were seated right away on a Sunday afternoon without any reservation. It was an overall wonderful rooftop date! Give it a try!

So cute and a great little rooftop. Restaurant was busy but the service was good. Zoie was our server, and she was great. Had the Beyond burger and the Lulu's salad, which is always a winner with that ginger dressing. The OG Margarita was excellent. I wish that you had a choice to get all the items listed when you go to the QR code to view menu. These are 3 restaurants that are all located together so when I'm at the Five and Dime, I also see the other two restaurants listed and food on menu for Taco Diablo and Lulus but those items are not available to order. Good marketing but slightly confusing. That being said, great rooftop, excellent atmosphere, and service. Would not hesitate to go again.
